Let’s walk through all the details so you know exactly what to expect and can feel confident about scheduling your family portrait session.
Our 1-hour family photo sessions start at $995 and include a curated gallery of beautiful, high-resolution digital images that showcase your family in a relaxed, natural setting.
Our most requested session is the First Moments Home shoot, typically scheduled within the first month after your baby comes home.
Don’t worry if you don’t have a newborn! We love to capture your family through all stages of life, as your children grow.
Other popular times to book:
Choosing the right setting can feel overwhelming, but we’re here to help!
Perfect for babies younger than 6 months, especially in colder months (December–April).
We bring the studio to your home, making the session comfortable for both you and your little one.
If your family has a favorite park or spot, let’s meet there! We recommend shaded areas away from playgrounds to ensure a calm and beautiful backdrop.
Peak season for outdoor sessions is June–November. Be sure to book early as these dates fill up quickly!
It’s important to schedule your session at a time that works best for your family — especially your little ones!
Plan around naps! We find that babies and toddlers are often happiest in the morning, around 9-11 AM.
Early morning (8-9 AM) or the golden hour before sunset (1-2 hours before) are ideal times to capture the best natural light.
Where should your session be? We’d be happy to recommend some of our favorite locations.
We want you to feel prepared and excited for your session.
We’ll offer advice on how to dress for your shoot — simple, comfortable, and timeless outfits usually work best!
Take a look at our past sessions for inspiration. These galleries show what you can expect and might help spark ideas for your own shoot.
Cancel 72 hours before the session to avoid a fee. If you cancel within 72 hours, there’s a $100 cancellation fee.
Same-day cancellations or no-shows forfeit their payment. Rescheduling on the day of the session requires a $100 fee.
For outdoor sessions, your photographer will contact you the day before the session if weather conditions are a concern. We’ll work with you to find a new date that fits your schedule.
We focus on capturing your family’s personality, but feel free to bring meaningful props. Let us know what you have in mind, so we can plan accordingly.
Please notify your photographer if you’re running late. After 30 minutes, the session will need to be rescheduled and the $100 rescheduling fee applies.
Many park locations do allow dogs. If you do bring a pet, it’s helpful to have another person join the session to hold onto your pet for the photos they are not part of. Bring treats for your pet to help get a happy participant in the photos!
Once your session is complete, we’ll lightly edit and review your gallery. You’ll receive an email to view and download your images within three weeks. Advanced editing is available upon request for an additional fee.

Select 3-4 complementary or coordinating colors for the family’s outfits. A good starting point is to find an outfit that makes mom feel great and pull colors from that to create the palette.
Consider neutral tones like beige, grey, or white, and combine them with seasonal colors, such as soft pastels in spring or rich earthy tones in fall.
The color palette should reflect your style and match the home decor you’d like these photos to complement.
Select 1-2 family members (depending on the family size) to wear patterns (like florals, plaids, or stripes), while everyone else sticks to solid colors within the chosen palette.
Keep patterns simple to avoid distracting from the subjects of the photos.
Ensure everyone is dressed at the same level—either all dressed up or all dressed casually.
Match the outfit style to the season and location of the shoot. A summer beach session calls for light, breezy clothing, while fall in a park may look great with cozy sweaters.
Choose fitted clothing, as baggy outfits can make you appear larger on camera. Adding layers like scarves, jackets, or cardigans can add texture and dimension.
Shoes are important! Consider shoes that fit the style but are also practical, especially if the session involves walking in grass or outdoor locations.
Busy Patterns: Too many intricate patterns can divert attention away from your faces.
Logos: Avoid clothing with large logos or text, as it can look distracting.
White and Black: While white and black can sometimes work, creamy tones, pastels, or earthy colors typically photograph better.
Matching Outfits: Skip identical outfits like everyone in jeans and a white shirt. Instead, aim for outfits that complement each other without being too matchy-matchy.
