Bella Baby Plan

General Guidelines

Choose a Color Palette (3-4 Colors)

Select 3-4 complementary or coordinating colors for the family’s outfits. A good starting point is to find an outfit that makes mom feel great and pull colors from that to create the palette.

Consider neutral tones like beige, grey, or white, and combine them with seasonal colors, such as soft pastels in spring or rich earthy tones in fall.

The color palette should reflect your style and match the home decor you’d like these photos to complement.

Mix Patterns and Solids

Select 1-2 family members (depending on the family size) to wear patterns (like florals, plaids, or stripes), while everyone else sticks to solid colors within the chosen palette.

Keep patterns simple to avoid distracting from the subjects of the photos.

Coordinate Dressy or Casual Styles

Ensure everyone is dressed at the same level—either all dressed up or all dressed casually.

Match the outfit style to the season and location of the shoot. A summer beach session calls for light, breezy clothing, while fall in a park may look great with cozy sweaters.

Fit and Layers

Choose fitted clothing, as baggy outfits can make you appear larger on camera. Adding layers like scarves, jackets, or cardigans can add texture and dimension.

Shoes are important! Consider shoes that fit the style but are also practical, especially if the session involves walking in grass or outdoor locations.

What to Avoid

Busy Patterns: Too many intricate patterns can divert attention away from your faces.

Logos: Avoid clothing with large logos or text, as it can look distracting.

White and Black: While white and black can sometimes work, creamy tones, pastels, or earthy colors typically photograph better.

Matching Outfits: Skip identical outfits like everyone in jeans and a white shirt. Instead, aim for outfits that complement each other without being too matchy-matchy.
